Water Heaters Hybrid

Hybrid Water HeaterGE Hybrid GeoSpring

You can save money without sacrificing hot water. With this next generation of water heaters, GE combines traditional electronic elements with heat pump technology. This hybrid water heater actually takes heat out of the air surrounding the water heater and using a sealed system injects that heat into the tank to heat your water. This adds up to significant savings and you won’t have to give up a single drop of hot water!

Cost. The initial cost is more than a traditional water heater, but the GE Hybrid Water Heater pays for itself in savings. This water heater can reduce operating costs up to 62% and save you $320 per year.* This will dramatically impact your monthly utility bills for years to come.

Energy Star Rated. The GE Hybrid Water Heater is the first electric water heater to qualify for the Energy Star Rating. You are currently eligible for a Federal Tax Credit of up to 30% on the installation of this product for the 2009-2010 tax years.

Easy to Use Control Panel. The GE Hybrid Water Heater comes with an electronic back-lit LCD display. This panel features a user-friendly control system that is located at eye-level to eliminate the need to bend down to the floor to adjust temperature settings.

Multiple Settings. The multiple setting allows consumers to meet a variety of needs.

  • eHeat™ Mode is designed to maximize your savings.
  • Hybrid Mode uses less energy while experiencing fast recovery times.
  • High Demand Mode helps if you are having guests spend the weekend and need increased amounts of hot water.
  • Standard Mode will allow you to shut off the heat pump and only use the electric elements to heat water. This is used in extremely cold situations (less than 45°F), where heat pump functionality would not be ideal.
  • Vacation Setting will drop the temperature down to 50°F to save energy while you are out of town, while also preventing the water from freezing.

Air Filter.
During the eHeat and High Demand modes, the water heater moves air through the system and out the back of the unit. An air filter is in place to protect the evaporator from accumulating dirt and dust and is important for high efficiency performance. A red indicator light and audible beep sound when it needs to be cleaned. Cleaning is easily done by wiping the filter with a damp rag or rinsing in warm water.

*Based on DOE test procedure and comparison of a 50-gallon standard electric tank water heater using 4881 kWh per year vs. the GE Hybrid water heater using 1856 kWh per year.
