Water Treatment System Installation

There are few things more important than making sure your family has reliable access to safe, uncontaminated drinking water. While the drinking water coming into your home is probably treated by your municipality, there are plenty of opportunities for contaminants to find their way in.

The only way to really protect yourself and your family from this type of contamination is to install a water treatment system for your home. There are quite a few types of systems available, so to choose the one that’s right for you, you should know exactly what types of contaminants you’re dealing with.

You will also need a professional to install your water treatment system, and that’s where we come in. Bayonet Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning installs these types of systems for customers all over the Tampa area and we’d be glad to count you among them. With so much experience working with this technology, you can be sure that when we do work for you, we get it done right the first time.

Diagnosing Water Quality Problems

When you hire us to put in a water treatment system for your home, the first thing we’ll do is come out and test to learn exactly what types of contaminants are in your water. This is important because not all water treatment systems eliminate all contaminants equally. If you have a problem with bacterial contaminants, for instance, you’ll need a system that includes UV antibacterial lights. But if your main problem is excess minerals, you’ll want the mainstay of your system to be a high quality filter.

Types of Water Treatment Systems

Water filtration is probably the most basic type of home water treatment. A water filter can be installed at fixture level or at the point where your water supply enters your home. These filters will remove all types of common contaminants including debris, chemicals and excess minerals. The most common type of water filter is a charcoal filter, as charcoal naturally absorbs many chemicals while allowing water to easily pass through.

If you have a problem with more potent chemicals and contaminants such as nitrates, nitrites and arsenic, you may need a more potent water treatment system. In fact, there are special filters that can eliminate each of these types of contaminants, which is why it’s so important to find out what is in your water before you have a water treatment system installed.

Water Softeners

Another problem you may encounter in your home is hard water. What this actually means is that there is excessive calcium and magnesium in your water supply. These minerals, while not harmful in small amounts, can cause all sorts of problems when their concentration gets too high.

To get rid of these minerals, you need to install some type of water softening system. Most of these replace the calcium and magnesium in the water coming into your home with sodium, which doesn’t cause the same type of damage those other minerals can.

Of course, adding sodium to your water isn’t ideal either, especially if you’re supposed to be on a salt restricted diet. Luckily, you can simply have a reverse osmosis system installed along with your water softener to get the excess sodium out of your water.
